Artist Statement:
I’ve been thinking about how far language can take us — and how, at some point, you reach the edge of speech, where words can’t quite get to the place you want them to. Creating gives you the ability to channel all that nuance and power to translate what language can’t.
I make sculptures and installations out of handmade paper — forms shaped by the structures I inhabit and move through. These structures are both physical and nonphysical. My work is a conversation between what is solid and what is open, what moves and what holds still. I’m drawn to the spaces in between — the pauses, the blanks, the tension, and the breath.
